Marching Band

Sheldon High School is celebrating it's 60th anniversary this year. The Sheldon Marching Band is the longest continuous marching band in Lane County and is the only competitive marching band in Lane County.

Welcome

Band Camp is a two week day camp held at Sheldon HS and required of all marching band members. We use this important time to learn and refine our marching technique, instrument/equipment fundamentals, and to learn our music and choreography. We learn a pep band routine for football games and pregame and halftime shows to be performed at our home games and competitions.

Schedules

We will be sending emails with updates about schedules etc. We also highly recommend that you join our BAND APP: https://band.us/n/a1af92X5l8T8T

Attendance

Band Camp is a critical and important part of our season. All members are expected to attend all durations of band camp. All members are expected to arrive early to be on time for rehearsal and stay until the end. If you need to have an absence during band camp (or the season) please register your absence on this google form: https://forms.gle/kNqRvXozxNxVNn2V8  Students are responsible for being on-time to all rehearsals.

Band Fees

The 2024 Marching Band & Color Guard season costs approximately $700 per member. We are asking that each member pay a $300 participation fee to offset costs AND a Fair Share Fundraising Commitment. The work of the fair share comes out to approximately $300. Please see 2024-25 Band Fee details here.

HOW CAN WE SUPPORT THE BAND?

PARENTS & GUARDIAN MEETING Wednesday AUGUST 13th @ 6:00PM

  • Support our Bottle Drop campaign! It’s really easy---we have blue fundraising bags that are pre-labeled. Fill them up & return them to bottle drop locations! 3rd Sunday of each month is our bottle drive!

  • Parent Volunteers @ Sheldon Home Football Games (Fair Share): We need 6 parents per game to work at the ticket booth (this is a fundraiser for the band) . To fulfill your fair share you would need to work 4 games (one person working on shift counts as 1 shift). We also need parent/siblings/friends to help us get on and off the field at Half Time.

  • Parent & Student Volunteers for Autzen Concessions (Fair Share & Fundraising): Our participation fees do not cover all of the expenses associated with marching band so working Autzen Concessions assists in paying for the season. Each family is asked to work 3 shifts total. Additional funds earned past your marching band participation fee may be used for future programs such as winter guard and future travel.

  • Volunteers @ Marching Band Competitions: We will need many volunteers to help us attend marching band competitions. This will include assisting with uniforms, loading and unloading the trucks, moving equipment, meals & chaperoning the students.

  • Band Camp or Season Meals/Snacks: We are looking for donations of meal items for sandwiches and band camp snacks. Sign up here
